July and August seem to be Cyclamen time of year here. I really love cyclamen. They are so unusual with their beautiful flowers, different colours and wonderfully textured leaves.
I was going through some of last year’s photos this morning and found an image taken on this exact day, last year. I’ve had a bit of a play with it.. cropped and enhanced digitally. I like this heightened view 🙂
Thought I’d also share a rough pencil study of one of this year’s cyclamens, sketched quickly a couple of nights ago into my journal. A study of line, mark and tone.
Just a quick one today 🙂 It’s awfully windy here.. a good inside day!
A new look and reworked tagline for the blog…’cause that’s how I feel 🙂
“Everyday things can be magical too”
Still in pursuit of those everyday things… ones that are so often overlooked. Many times I miss the mark and sometimes I don’t even realise until later on that I’ve found the wow factor…but for me that’s what it’s all about and I really enjoy looking…and finding.
I’ve been going back through my images.. (it’s been raining…lots!).. ones I’ve taken over the past year or more.. and I came across this one. A favourite of mine.
I saw this butterfly in our backyard (beginning 2012)… I chased followed it around taking lots of photos 😉
The dear fellow was very kind to me and I think he looked very tired but he was beautiful.. and I was so excited!!
Some of you might even remember me painting this guy too. His beautiful colours and rich velvety coat were magnificent.
2012 has been a fantastic year full of learning, making some art ( but not enough) and taking stacks (Aussie for lots and lots) of photos.
I wanted to continue my photographic journey in 2012 after finishing a year of Fine Arts study the year before. I’ve learnt so much about my camera ( and myself ) and of course have only begun to explore the possibilities.
My photographic direction this past year has been to capture the ‘things of everyday’ and to challenge myself to taking a photo everyday. I’ve certainly managed to capture the ‘everyday’ with some of my images and yet there is plenty of room to grow in this direction if that’s the road I take. So many things capture my eyes 🙂
I didn’t manage photos every single day with my 366 challenge, but decided to do what was possible for me and not get stressed over what I didn’t achieve… This made my challenge mostly relaxing and enjoyable. 🙂
I’ve been going through my images from 2012 and have chosen these to share for this weekly photo challenge.
The 2 images below were me experimenting with still life and light.
This year has been a journey. One shared with the lovely ladies sharing my 366 challenge… and also shared with all of you.
My heartfelt thanks for the amazing encouragement, kind words and generally cheering me on 😀
I haven’t decided what 2013 holds for me yet, but I’ll defintitely be here, visiting the blogs and sites that inspire me. I’ll surely be taking photos and making art. I must 🙂 I’d like to join the weekly challenges this year and take photos whenever I can 😀 ..and I’m hoping to get out and about around our beautiful country more, to see some of what there is to see.
