One Four Challenge 2016 – August Week 3

Hi everybody – do hope you’ve had a great week!

It’s Monday again in my part of the world and time for our 3rd week of the One Four Challenge for August. We’ve got some really creative editions happening again this month 🙂

About the challenge and how it works:

• This challenge is about processing 1 image in 4 different ways over 4 weeks OR taking 4 versions of an image at the time of shooting (eg. different settings, lens etc.).. and sharing them over the 4 weeks.

• We will all  process / post edit (our own chosen image) and share a different version each week. Process it however you like… and tell us a bit about it. You don’t have to show the original image unless you’d like to.
• Try new things, experiment.  Be as creative or subtle as you wish to be. All skill levels are welcome.
• Links to my blog are welcome.

My Image:

Usually by week 3, my brain is thinking in Black and White or monochrome. I did try a few versions of these, but didn’t like any, so I hopped into Analog Efex 2 to see what I could find…

I tried a few things, but ended up liking the finish above – a grungy grainy, subdued feel with light leaks.

To achieve this look was very simple. I chose the Wet Plate camera in Analog Efex 2 and clicked on Wet Plate 9 – made a few simple adjustments and that is my effort for this week. Quite different to the last two.

I began with my week 1 image again.

My Image:

This week, I didn’t really have a plan and my post is pretty last minute so I thought I’d start with last week’s image and then see if I could find a Preset in Lightroom that I liked. I settled on my own Gerbera preset.. I like the way it changes reds to pinks 😀

Think I’m taking the ‘Fauvist’ route this week 😉

I cropped a bit and did make a few other adjustments – but very minor ones.. Here’s how it looks. Now I realise this is not to everyone’s taste but the grainy pink kind of makes me smile. Something different. Actually I think they should make pink chillis!!

My Image:

This time around I’m using an image that I took back in January this year.  The image kind of intrigues me, but the result wasn’t ‘too’ fabulous as I was asking a zoom lens to do what I usually do with a macro lens. Can’t help myself – I love seeing a closer view.

I do like those rich colours, the chillies themselves and the shadows. Hopefully I can find a pleasing edition (or more) working through these next 4 weeks.

To start – here is the original image..

I made some adjustments this week using Lightroom. Just some subtle changes (I think).

I lifted the exposure slightly, adjusted shadows, highlights and curves.  Added a touch of clarity, a vignette and reduced the saturation very slightly too.

Colours of Autumn

Autumn has finally arrived and we are experiencing some cooler days! It’s wonderful.

Carrying on with my series, these are some more images of Autumn leaves and a lovely feather I found laying on the ground.

These were all collected by me and brought inside to photograph (the day was windy) – so I combined some textures of textiles and paper with the leaves and feather.

March has been a very quiet month for me, photographically speaking (and online as well), although it’s not over yet.. so I do hope to get out with the camera sometime soon.
