I’ve just had the very best week as a student in a painting workshop. It was about the versatility of acrylics… It was fabulous!!
I’m still in the very early days of my ‘painting life’… this is the beginning of my fourth year and some of that time has been pretty sporadic due to life, commitments and simply getting stuck on knowing what to do or how to do!
Here are two pretty successful (for me) paintings from this past week…
Daisies and Lemons
There are things I will tweak a little until I’m happy….possibly…
This week has been great! I’ve learned things I do want to do and things I don’t want to do in my painting future…and things I prefer. It’s given me some clarity of direction. I’m now looking forward to the rest of my painting / ever learning journey with a bit more clarity and bravery… I hope 😉
Each day, in our class we did a different painting using acrylics in a different way… this was very liberating to learn..and fun! I finished 2 pretty ok paintings, had 2 kind of epic fails… ha ha! ..and one I will start later on.
I met some great people too. It’s been a fabulous week and now this coming week, my focus will be finalising creations for our first market of the year… and first ever! Wooohoo!!
Have a great week 😀
Yesterday I sat down to create a fun Christmassy card 🙂
This cheery and fun little card was the result. Something a little different 🙂
Thought I’d share a few snapshots from my mobile phone, taken during setup for our exhibition. The gallery area is a combination of wall space and cabinets as well as plinths etc.
Here are some of my creations from the course. This is an overall view of my display cabinet. Again, all are taken with a mobile phone camera.
My display consists of:
- 1 yard of my own fabric design – ‘Wash Day’ 😀 (this was very exciting and took 10 weeks to bring to fruition!!)
- Magazine Cover project – designed and photographed by me, emulating a real magazine
- Props shown in the cabinet – used for the magazine cover, all made by me except for the dress display stand.
- Poster, flyer and invitation for Shakespeare play – no computer use at all in the making of this.
- Altered book – ‘Treasure Books’ – depicting the importance of books to me.
- I also have a kinetic mobile in the exhibition, but as yet I have no images of it… will share when I can.
A closer look… (white balance is off in these next 2 shots and lighting is terrible).
..and this one – ‘In the Orchard’ – is hanging on the wall opposite 🙂 You’ve seen it before.
These are some of the items I’ve been working on for the duration of this course.
WordPress tells me I’ve been blogging on my Fine Arts Journal for 3 years today 🙂
Actually I signed up 3 years ago and it took me a while to get into the WordPress swing, but I’m glad I’m here.
I want to take this opportunity to Thank all of you who pass by and /or follow my journal, my experiments, my successes…and otherwise 😉 I appreciate the community and the encouragement and feedback from you all 😀
I’ve learned so much over the past 3 years on my ‘official’ Fine Arts Journey. Some days are amazing, while others are plain hard work, but I love this creative world and will continue onward and hopefully upward 😀
Being my Anniversary, I thought I’d share a gallery of some of my favourite works and images from these years.
