One Four Challenge 2016 – November Week 3

Welcome back to week 3 of November’s One Four Challenge…

Just a quick post from me for this Monday. I hope you’ve had a great week and found some inspiration for your image.

November is going to be our last and final challenge for the One Four. We’ve had such a great run for two years, but it’s time for a break.. and to focus on other things… (I’ll still be blogging here..) It’s been a fantastic learning curve and good fun – not to mention the wonderful community of people who have participated over these 2 years.. Thank you all.

Let’s fully enjoy this month and inspire each other ๐Ÿ˜€

My Image:

This week, I moved over to the iPad for the first part of editing my image. I went into iColorama (app) and used the glass effect. I chose ‘bubbles or circles’ and I liked the overlay it created. I brushed out some of the effect for the flowers to poke their heads through ๐Ÿ™‚

Then I went into Photoshop and added a soft gradient and some whimsical lavender heads with the tablet.

Here is my week 3 effort… A bit of an adventure.. and around the world this week too!

one-four-challenge_week3_nov-16_robyngosbyAfter that it was into Lightroom to watermark and while I was there, I hovered (accidentally) on a Light leak preset and decided I liked it.

Here is a gallery of the images so far..

We’ve had some very stormy weather this week, so I haven’t been around much, plus I was out and about this week a fair bit too… which is always a nice change. Will do some blog reading very soon.

Looking forward once again this week to seeing the editions and the treatments of your images.

One Four Challenge 2016 – November Week 2

Hey everyone and welcome to week 2 of November’s One Four Challenge… it’s great seeing the images and editions that are coming through… Looking forward to more this week also!!

November is going to be our last and final challenge for the One Four. We’ve had such a great run for two years, but I think it’s time for a break.. and to focus on other things… It’s been a fantastic learning curve and good fun – not to mention the wonderful community of people who have participated over these 2 years.. Thank you all.

Let’s fully enjoy this month and inspire each other ๐Ÿ˜€ย  This may come as a surprise, but it’s been something I’ve been pondering for a while and some things have a time… this is ours.

I’m going to spend some more time studying.. with a view to furthering my skills and finding my place in this wonderful world that I love – of art and photography.

My Image:

As I said last week, my chosen image for this month is an everyday kind of image. The light was lovely at the time of taking and I couldn’t resist the wonderful light and shade moving over the lavender heads.

This week I decided to go further than working with the ‘photograph’ only… I took it into PS and added a couple of texture layers, then added some butterflies with the brush tool.

After that I went back into Lightroom to change the tones to a softer feel.ย  (This is a very simplified version of my steps).. I think it ended up having an old fashioned kind of feel.ย  I stopped when I was happy.

Here is this week’s edition:

a vintage feel..

and here is week 1 and the original..

I wonder if you have a favourite so far.. or some thoughts on what I might try next?

Looking forward again this week to seeing the editions and the treatments of your images.

Seeing Differently Challenge – 13 of 15

Today I’m sharing images for the 13th part of the seeing differently challenge…

A few weeks ago, I was out photographing the blossoms in the orchard and then I wandered across to the workshop.

I found this old toolbox – I love the wear and tear of years and the wonderful textures.

This made me think about telling a story with your subject…

Maybe by shooting a part (or even a suggestion) of the subject… you are giving your viewer the opportunity to engage and imagine the rest for themselves…

seeing-differently13_robyngosby-2016Just my thoughts. I know this is something I enjoy doing.

Maybe this is food for thought for you too.

Finding 15 (different) images throughout October is proving to be quite a challenge and a very satisfying one.ย  Using a different lens or point of view offers something more than the usual, especially when you are shooting in your own space. Awesome!

If this challenge (idea) appeals to you, please jump in. You are welcome!ย  Even though we are on the home run, some folks are going to share a gallery after they find their images..

Please let me know if I’ve missed any of your posts.. I know sometimes it happens. I am enjoying seeing all the different images and ways of seeing, being posted by everyone! Thanks for joining me.

I’d better spread my last 2 challenge posts out as we near the end of the month.. ๐Ÿ˜‰ .. and then I’ll share a gallery of the 15 images at the end of the month.

To view all the other images for the challenge, enter our tag #seedifferently2016 into the WP Reader.. and enjoy!

September Blossoms..

It’s Spring time here in Australia and the beautiful blossoms are on show in the old Orchard, although not for much longer. They seem to come and go very quickly!

I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to take any photos this year as September has been grey, rainy, blustery and cold so far..ย  Yesterday I tried… and even though it was another cold and grey day, I found some magic along the way..

Just a few images to share this Friday.
