One Four Challenge Final – Nov Week 4

Hello and welcome to the final week of the One Four Challenge…

I’m very much looking forward to seeing the final images this week for our challenge..

This month (and this week) is our last and final challenge for the One Four. We’ve had such a great run for two years.. It’s been a fantastic learning curve and good fun – not to mention the wonderful community of people who have participated over these 2 years.. Thank you all.

My Image:

This week, I went back to my week 1 image and was looking to create a Black and White style that suited this image.. I was thinking ‘old’…

I tried many things but didn’t find the B&W that I wanted, so decided to go with a Matt version. I think it still gives the old feel that I was looking for..

Here is week 4.

I tried many different things, so I don’t remember my steps this week… I worked in Lightroom again and am always learning new things, which is awesome. What a fantastic platform!

Here is my gallery of images for November..

Well here we are at the very end of our Challenge – what a great ride and wonderful learning curve it’s been! So much learned along the way and so much inspiration from each and every one of you who has participated… You’ve made it awesome!!!

Thank you so much!!  The best part for me has been making the wonderful blogging friends along the way…

I look forward to this final week and seeing your images… and then seeing what you do next.  See you on the blogs!!! 😀

One Four Challenge 2016 – November Week 3

Welcome back to week 3 of November’s One Four Challenge…

Just a quick post from me for this Monday. I hope you’ve had a great week and found some inspiration for your image.

November is going to be our last and final challenge for the One Four. We’ve had such a great run for two years, but it’s time for a break.. and to focus on other things… (I’ll still be blogging here..) It’s been a fantastic learning curve and good fun – not to mention the wonderful community of people who have participated over these 2 years.. Thank you all.

Let’s fully enjoy this month and inspire each other 😀

My Image:

This week, I moved over to the iPad for the first part of editing my image. I went into iColorama (app) and used the glass effect. I chose ‘bubbles or circles’ and I liked the overlay it created. I brushed out some of the effect for the flowers to poke their heads through 🙂

Then I went into Photoshop and added a soft gradient and some whimsical lavender heads with the tablet.

Here is my week 3 effort… A bit of an adventure.. and around the world this week too!

one-four-challenge_week3_nov-16_robyngosbyAfter that it was into Lightroom to watermark and while I was there, I hovered (accidentally) on a Light leak preset and decided I liked it.

Here is a gallery of the images so far..

We’ve had some very stormy weather this week, so I haven’t been around much, plus I was out and about this week a fair bit too… which is always a nice change. Will do some blog reading very soon.

Looking forward once again this week to seeing the editions and the treatments of your images.

One Four Challenge 2016 – November Week 2

Hey everyone and welcome to week 2 of November’s One Four Challenge… it’s great seeing the images and editions that are coming through… Looking forward to more this week also!!

November is going to be our last and final challenge for the One Four. We’ve had such a great run for two years, but I think it’s time for a break.. and to focus on other things… It’s been a fantastic learning curve and good fun – not to mention the wonderful community of people who have participated over these 2 years.. Thank you all.

Let’s fully enjoy this month and inspire each other 😀  This may come as a surprise, but it’s been something I’ve been pondering for a while and some things have a time… this is ours.

I’m going to spend some more time studying.. with a view to furthering my skills and finding my place in this wonderful world that I love – of art and photography.

My Image:

As I said last week, my chosen image for this month is an everyday kind of image. The light was lovely at the time of taking and I couldn’t resist the wonderful light and shade moving over the lavender heads.

This week I decided to go further than working with the ‘photograph’ only… I took it into PS and added a couple of texture layers, then added some butterflies with the brush tool.

After that I went back into Lightroom to change the tones to a softer feel.  (This is a very simplified version of my steps).. I think it ended up having an old fashioned kind of feel.  I stopped when I was happy.

Here is this week’s edition:

a vintage feel..

and here is week 1 and the original..

I wonder if you have a favourite so far.. or some thoughts on what I might try next?

Looking forward again this week to seeing the editions and the treatments of your images.

About the challenge and how it works:

  • This challenge is about processing 1 image in 4 different ways over 4 weeks OR taking 4 versions of an image at the time of shooting (eg. different settings, lens etc.)
  • We will all  process / post edit (our own chosen image) and share a different version each week. Process it however you like… and tell us a bit about it. You don’t have to show the original image unless you’d like to.
  • Try new things, experiment.  Be as creative or subtle as you wish to be. All skill levels are welcome.
  • Links to my blog are welcome.

My Image:

For this last week, I decided to go with another textured version.  The first thing I did was go back to iColorama and combined edits with the Stackables app. Once I found something I was pretty happy with, I decided to recreate this in Photoshop as best I could.

Combined App Image:

I’m not too sure what my steps were for the Combined App image – using the week 2 image as my base, I played until I found something I liked. Once again though, the device screen is not calibrated and when I moved it to my computer I was shocked at how BLUE! it really was. So the App version shown here has been de-saturated, brightness has been lowered and I added a small amount of contrast.

The PS layers Image:

For this image, I started with the original file (shown below) and added a small amount of contrast and 4 different texture layers (paint and paper), changing the blending modes and brushing out what I didn’t want or need. I did try a halftone layer (fine dots) but it wasn’t right with this one.

I then added the text layer.

At the finish, I’m happy with this one.  I do not love blue, but I do love teals and turquoises, so I like the direction this took. It’s quite a large file, so I’m going to make it available as Canvas and Metal prints. I think this will suit 😀

I look forward to hearing your thoughts once again.

This is how February finished for me… a fun month I must say. Such a ‘still’ image – one I enjoyed giving some life.

Do you have a favourite from my images this month?  I’d love to hear if you do. I’m not going to include a poll, but please let me know in comments 🙂 Which one is my favourite? I think it’s actually week 3.

Now over to you again and I’m very much looking forward to seeing your next edition and how you finished February too.

Remember, we meet again on the blogs in May!!  Hope you’ve had an enjoyable month 🙂
