Behind the Scenes – April 2017

April has been such a different month for me, behind the scenes…

Where I made an effort to get outside after the heat, in March – April surprised us with an elderly family member having a pretty big health scare, so it’s been very much an inside kind of month. In the hospital. In the car. Inside. Mostly.

We are thankful though, that things are progressing well.

I grabbed moments within this month, to try and think outside the usual and once again to try and see what was in front of me… on any given day.

So… my Behind the Scenes this month is quite unusual, in that it’s a big mix… and most things I’ve photographed have been Still Life of some sort, with a few outside exceptions.

Here’s what I’ve seen this past month..

Anything was up for consideration… even an ‘Un-wanted still life’ series.. ha ha!

..and..

‘el’

I’d love to know if you can guess what this is (above).. Maybe you’ll guess straight away!

…more experiments, play and creating with the little truck.. A fun little subject!!

Some actual Still Life images…

A view through a window of Sydney city in the distance.. a phone capture..

A day outside (see below).. A really beautiful contrasty Autumn day – again, captured with the phone.

..and a look at a beautiful rose.. at different stages..

Well that’s it from me for April’s Behind the Scenes… A brief and random overview, plus I’m linking up to Max’s Changing Seasons..

I do hope April has been a great month for you… it’s almost done… already!!

Take care and see you soon,

Robyn xx

Behind the Scenes – March 2017

Pay Attention. Find Balance.

As I’ve said previously, this past summer has been the hottest summer here in Australia!ย  It’s been a summer that made us pine for the cooler days, longing to be outside, but not in the searing heat.

I spent a lot of it wishing for those cooler days, instead of paying attention – really paying attention, photographically. It gets hard when it’s too hot.. and there’s always the worry of snakes under foot outside (in the heat).

I heard something the other day though, that made me sit up and pay attention!

“Use those frustrations and wishes to mold your work.ย  Show how it really is!”

I’d forgotten… So… for the last days of summer and now into early Autumn, with camera in hand, I decided to get outside and ‘see’ what is under my feet and above my head.ย  I found life and beauty among the decay of the summer heat.

Here’s some of what I’ve seen this month, Behind the Scenes..

A rainbow for the last evening of Summer… with crazy light catching the fine misty rain…

and early Autumn mornings..

Above my head.. these beautiful Kookaburras came and sat in the gum tree out the back.. Singing…

I grabbed my camera and took these through the (dirty) kitchen window (on a very grey day), so I didn’t disturb them. Beautiful family.

Growth and decay.. It feels more like Spring presently… there is new growth too, among the plants closing down for Winter.

..and we are getting some beautiful cooling rain, to feed the thirsty plants and ground.

The beautiful trees show that it’s Autumn though, with their gorgeous colours…

Weddings.

In February, I did my very first wedding shoot for friends.ย  What a wonderful nerve wracking experience! I loved it and now I’m doing another in April. Who knew?!

More to learn! I love that ๐Ÿ™‚

Logo work..

A few posts ago, I mentioned doing some logo work for people who are looking for their own mark / brand.ย  I’ve been thoroughly enjoying working with some lovely people to create their own ‘marks’.

If you’re looking for something, please Contact me.. I’d love to work with you.. and as I’ve said previously, I will set up my Etsy again for this at some point.

Well… for a change, I’ve had plenty to say… that’s been unusual for me for a fair while now.

I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing part of my world ‘Behind the Scenes’ this month.

Enjoy the rest of March!!

5 mins at the Pear tree..

Today was a gorgeous day!!

The sun was shining through the clouds scudding past, the grass was growing, the wind was blowing ..and the Autumn leaves are turning!! One of my favourite times of the year.

I thought it was a great opportunity to step outside with the camera and take a closer look at the leaves on the Pear tree for 5 mins…. joining in with Desley Jane’s Regular random this week.

Here’s what I saw…

…and the images below are in sequence of what I saw through the lens… a branch swaying, with dancing leaves.

March is going by very quickly already!!ย  Hope you’re having a good month ๐Ÿ™‚

Last days of Autumn..

This month I seem to be enjoying a look through Rose coloured glassesย  ๐Ÿ™‚

Today I’m posting some more images taken at the end of April – I’ve hardly had the camera out at all through May, so far.. but I’ve been enjoying spending a bit of time experimenting with editing this month.

These photos show varying stages of our Autumn – all taken within days of each other (about 3 weeks ago – so things are looking very different now and of course they really aren’t pink, but then they aren’t B&W either) ๐Ÿ˜‰

Only 2 more weeks of ‘proper’ Autumn to go (as I write) and today is showing signs of winter. I sit here typing, with beanie and puffy jacket, but then yesterday was almost summer again… crazy weather!

Well that’s it – another Autumnal look.ย  I do hope I get another chance to ‘chase Autumn’ this year again, before all of the leaves are gone.
