Still life in nature..

Back to toys again!

Well I suppose they are really collectables… but for me they’re a little fun with still life!

This time of year makes me feel alive with the cool mornings and evenings and the beautiful sparkly morning dews. I love it and it makes me want to explore and create.

Derailed..

I love trains and trucks.. and especially red ones… or pink ones!!

.. candy pink!

A simple post today..

..and here are some images for regular random

..more about different looks this time, with a couple of different views…

Have a great week!

3 little pears…

Ok.. they’re probably 3 normal size pears.. but I liked the title πŸ˜€

I bought these beautiful pears the other day – not to eat, but to photograph!

The shape of these really appeals to me.

A few thoughts out loud:

Still Life does not come easily for me.. I really need to work and spend time with my SL subjects.. like these quirky pears.. but… I kind of want it to make sense.. and I’m not sure if it does… lol..

I do enjoy being behind the camera.

I’d like to tell stories with my SL images too and perhaps that will come in time. Good to have a challenge, especially on those rainy days.

I really do enjoy the spontaneity of the natural world and it’s ah-ha moments, but I also like seeing an outcome with SL, so I’ll persist and be diligent (some days) πŸ™‚ Other days.. you know where I am if I can help it! Outside. Especially in Spring and Autumn!

My favourite artist – Margaret Olley spent her latter years, painting still life and they were wonderful, so I’m very inspired by her lovely work – especially her use of colour and subjects.Β  Quite often ordinary things.

Here’s what I found studying these 3 pears through the lens.

I liked the light, the colours and the subjects.

These 5 images were shot within a 5 minute period.Β  There were others, but while I was shooting I was thinking of Desley’s 5 min challenge – Regular Random.

So for the challenge and these images, I used different lenses and different ways of looking at the pears.

..and the 3 little pears lived happily ever after… ok, until they’re eaten anyway..

The End.

5 mins at the Pear tree..

Today was a gorgeous day!!

The sun was shining through the clouds scudding past, the grass was growing, the wind was blowing ..and the Autumn leaves are turning!! One of my favourite times of the year.

I thought it was a great opportunity to step outside with the camera and take a closer look at the leaves on the Pear tree for 5 mins…. joining in with Desley Jane’s Regular random this week.

Here’s what I saw…

…and the images below are in sequence of what I saw through the lens… a branch swaying, with dancing leaves.

5 minutes – the old doggie

5 minutes is new idea, hosted by Desley Jane at ‘Musings of a Frequently Flying Scientist’. This is a fun idea and one worth trying! All are welcome to join in and as I said above, it’s a new idea.Β  Read more about it at Desley Jane’s blog.

This week I took the camera outside to see what would happen if I ‘kept photographing‘ our oldest and quirkiest dog.Β  Those who know dogs, know that Border Collies have their own way of doing things…

Jess, our Border Collie, decided that he wasn’t going to look at me… well maybe a few times, maybe…. (and then right through me!)… He was sort of eating his dinner.. sort of..

The silent conversation went like this…. Well, his part was silent..

Jess… Jeee-eeesss.. Jess… look at me Jess..

No, I’m busy!

Jess.. Jess-ssss..

No. My master is coming. I know he is.

Hey Jess.. look at me Jess…

Nope…

Jess.. ‘Whistle’

Huh? No. yawn…

Jee-ee-ssss… (said patiently and lovingly…)..

I am busy!

Jesss.. ‘Whistle’

Nope… what? did you say something?

Jess πŸ™‚

Ok, I’m leaving now……………

So this time, my 5 mins were actually 7 mins… Not knowing what I would ‘see’ capturing the old doggie in my ordinary everyday-ness… I was kind of surprised at the tiny changes within the images… These were most of the images I shot, but not all…

See the slideshow below.. there are 37 images in total.. Click << backwards until you see ‘Start here’..

Being a 5 min ‘shooting’ challenge, I thought I’d also see if I could edit my images in 5 mins too… Nope, absolutely not this time.

My computer is having major issues presently (a bit scary) and it took at least 20 mins just to import!!

I wanted to keep editing as simple as possible, so I have used 2 presets. A Lightroom High BW contrast preset and a Kim Klassen preset called Oak, which is possibly my favourite of Kim’s presets.

I hope this slideshow makes you smile… and be sure to pop on over to Desley’s post for this week (link above)..

Have a fantastic week!!

(Next time, I need the ball nearby!)

More fun. Β Thanks Desley Jane πŸ™‚
